Winter activities in the alps

Cross- country skiing is more than gliding on the snow. It is meditation on the skis and the perfect training for heart, muscles and the joints. In Venosta Valley there are different trails and also the nordic skiing center Schliniga.

Snow Park or downhill slope? Skiing lessons or black run? With a view of the Lake Resia or the Ortles? In Italy or in Austria? All around the Maraias, the ski areas are as unique as the snowflakes that transform the Venosta Valley into a winter sports paradise.

Step by step thru the deep snow forests and the shiny fields to the rustic alpine huts or the frozen alpin lakes. With or without snowshoes while hiking the upper Venosta Valley nature shows the most beautiful side of the winter.

Offside the slopes the untouched winter- wonderland is waiting. After the climb , high at the mountain peaks you will be rewarded with a crystal clear panoramic view , before you buckle up the skiis again and down rushing the powder snow.

Why should you stop kiting in the winter? Surfing and jumping the board are just as good over snow and ice. Lake Resia is windproof even in winter.

When the numerous lakes are frozen over in winter, we use them for ice skating. And should the lake not freeze in the sunny Val Venosta, there are still various artificial surfaces on which you can glide along.

Kilometers of toboggan runs from nearby Watles mountain up to Nauders over the Austrian border. A sleigh ride is healthy for body and mind. As you swing down the mountain on two skids panoramic views and a variety of mountain huts for a short break awaits you.
