Time to listen to the whispers of autumn

When the world wears its most colourful dress

Copper-coloured forests bathed in golden sunlight, the first snow on the peaks, the bellowing of the deer: autumn is a magical time. It invites us to pause and marvel, to explore and discover, and it reinvents itself every day.

Hiking

It crunches and rustles under your feet, the cool air awakens your senses and the forests present themselves in their most beautiful colours - some still green, some yellow, some already dark red. After a hike on the various trails in the area, the warm spa area invites you to put your feet up and relax.

Biking

The colourful natural landscape can be explored not only by foot, but also on two wheels. Take advantage of the last mild days of the year to go full speed. Whether cycle paths, pass roads or winding trails high up on the mountain: the Venosta Valley is a true biking paradise in autumn.

Specialities

Just one word: ‘Törggelen’. Discover this rural tradition and enjoy South Tyrolean ‘Schlutzkrapfen’, meat platters, chestnuts and, of course, young wine. But there is also plenty to try outside the farmhouse parlours; for example, Alpine cheese, pumpkin and apple dishes and the Pala pear, a particularly old variety.

Yoga

When nature gradually retreats, we too feel the need to slow down and take a deep breath. You can do this not only on walks through unspoilt nature, but also during yoga classes. Concentrate on yourself and find your inner centre. You will see how good of a feeling it is.

Culture

Autumn is the time of the ‘Almabtrieb’. Be there when the cattle, decorated with bells and wreaths, return from the mountain pastures to the valley. Listen to the folk music and savour South Tyrolean delicacies. If, on the other hand, the weather shows its wintry side, pay a visit to the various sights.

‘Waalwege’

A special hiking tip for autumn are the many ‘Waalwege’ (irrigation channels) that meander through the landscape of the Venosta Valley. Once irrigation channels, they are now popular excursion destinations for visitors of all ages. Follow the rushing water through the colourful nature and enjoy the moment with all your senses.

Deer rutting

In autumn, the roaring of the stags resounds through the forests of South Tyrol. At Maraias you can not only hear it but also experience it. Stop by our fallow deer enclosure and get to know these curious and proud animals. We will be happy to tell you interesting facts about their habitat.
